Your online business needs plenty of traffic if you’re going to build a solid customer base. That may be the biggest reason to consider partnering with another business for some serious joint venture marketing. However, even if you sign on with a good JV partner, knowing how to increase website traffic will make a big difference in the success of your partnership.

We have five secrets to increasing Internet traffic that you need to know for your joint venture.

SEO

Search engine optimization is essential if you want to increase your rankings on the search engines. This is a complex and ever changing technology that requires research to stay abreast of the updates.

The proper use of keywords and phrases can make all the difference in how many people find your website. Tools like Google Keyword or Keyword Discovery can make a big difference in finding the best words to incorporate to drive the most traffic home.

Social Bookmarking

In order to drive more traffic to your website and increase the benefits of your joint venture, you will have to get social today. Social networking has become a viable method for driving traffic to your site, as well as keeping customers up to date on your latest promotions and products.

Rather than just bookmarking your main site, spend time adding bookmarks to your articles and backlinks for the greatest return on your efforts.

Article Directories

Submitting to article directories is a must for both you and your JV partner. When you

write articles for directories, you immediately establish yourself as an expert in your industry. This will increase consumer confidence in your company, so that those who do click on your backlinks to find your website will also be more likely to purchase from you.

Articles on the directories should come with backlinks and social bookmarking to help readers find your business.

Backlinks

To ensure you get the greatest return on your backlinks, watch the content to which you are adding your backlinks. Pasted content is easily detected by search engines today and automatically goes to the bottom of the pile, where your potential customers will never find it. By the same token, generated content that was so popular at the beginning of the Internet marketing era is now considered taboo by most search engines. You are much better off to create new, unique content for your backlinks that will be seen by more potential customers.

Blog Commenting

Commenting on other people’s blogs is a free, effective way to get your business name around the Internet. Add a backlink to your blog entry and wait for potential customers to find you. Look for blogs that would attract your market base for the best return on your efforts. It is also important to find high traffic blogs that have done much of the tough marketing work for you.

Internet traffic is the key to any successful online business today. Even joint venture partners can benefit from increasing website traffic using these simple techniques listed above.

A backlink is a common tool used in JV marketing, which allows you to link your website with another to boost your Internet traffic. There are a number of benefits to backlinks, but the advantages are directly impacted by just how effective your backlink use becomes.

This article will provide the basics of backlinks to help you use this tool in your JV marketing strategy as successfully as possible.

Benefits of Backlinks

There are many good reasons to use effective backlink strategies in your JV marketing approach, including:

Building traffic to your website

Improving your search engine ranking

Improving your standing on PageRank

Establishing yourself as an “expert” in your industry

The risk and cost of backlinking is minimal, especially in JV partnerships

There is no doubt that backlinks are an inexpensive, effective way to bring more traffic to your website. However, the amount of the benefit you enjoy from your backlinks will be directly affected by your ability to use them wisely. We have a few tips for you to consider when posting backlinks on your JV partners’ websites.

Relationship

It’s all about the relationship in backlinking, and the closer you and your JV partner are related, the more value you will get from your backlink. Choose a JV partner that is in a very similar industry, but not so similar that you are competing for customers. For example, a wedding planner might backlink to websites of florists or bakers, or a mechanic might backlink to car dealerships or auto supply shops.

Information

Backlinks are noticed more when there is content to peruse. This is why posting articles to article directories is such an effective way to use the backlinking tool. However, you can also use this concept with JV marketing by providing content along with a link to your website on other business sites.

For example, the wedding planner might write a post about coordinating the wedding flowers for the service and reception at the florist’s blog, along with a backlink to her own business.

Quality, not Quantity

Certainly, quantity is important when it comes to backlinks, but quality is even more likely to get noticed. Posts and articles used to backlink to your website should be well-written and interesting. They should also contain good keywords that make them easy to find on the search engines. The better your content, the more people will take time to read it and maybe click on your website at the end.

Comments

Commenting on other blogs is an excellent way to increase your backlink power, especially if you are working with your JV partner to this purpose. However, the best traffic is received when you are listed as one of the top commentators on a particular blog. You can enjoy increased traffic, as well as better rankings in this top spot.

The biggest advantage to incorporating backlinks into your JV partnerships is that you can enjoy the benefits of backlinking without paying for any of the links you get directly. Instead, you and your JV partners agree to provide backlinks for one another through your company websites, blogs and social networking websites. When the cost of backlinking is minimal to no cost, all the profits you receive through increased traffic and customers is icing on the cake.

how to get more backlinks

Phew, this is a multi-faceted subject and I want to emphasise it’s not clear cut. But here is what I know in my analysis at the Backlinks clinic:

Authority – basics

The more authority your site has the better you will rank on Google. Authority means that searchers trust you and your content. The great news is that authorities trusted by people are also recognised as trustworthy by Google. A good illustration is the .edu and .gov suffixes. These suffixes imply they are trustworthy sources of content and it’s a proven fact that as far as Google is concerned backlinks from these domains to your web pages will contribute authority to your web pages. Another perfect example is Wikipedia as the entries here are mostly added by by tribes of humans as opposed to a single source.

So it follows that authority is significantly influenced by the source of your backlinks and if authoritative sites link to your site then you inherit their apparent trust and in the eyes of Google you become more authoritative and hence the trust in your site by Google increases.

How Google declares what is and isn’t authoritative is a guarded secret for good reason and falls in line with Google’s philosophy of “Do no evil”. The last thing the Internet needs is someone exploiting the methods that Google untilzes in its efforts to try and regulate probably the most significant technological resource of our times.

How not to get Backlinks

In the same vein it’s valuable to state some ‘black hat sources and practices of building backlinks that Google not only dislikes but appears to be acting to ‘’categorize as negative authorities. In no particular order of merit, the prime examples are:

Paid backlinks – hubs where individuals purchase and sell backlinks

Comment spam – entries that have links on web sites that are just not associated to the main content.

Low quality and *duplicate content – ‘scraped’ or copied

Unnatural growth – there are a myriad of ways that this is achievable, Google isn’t stupid. Any sudden rise in the amount of backlinks is going to show up on Google’s monitoring systems, specifically if it’s a recently registered domain.

Backlinks from ill reputed web pages – these are particularly henous as you are guilty by association – need I say more.

*There is another factor where I may be on dodgy ground, but reputable media portals seem to get a lot of authority and I have definitely seen significant quantities of the same content over and over again on different portals with no penalties, I am still monitoring this, only as some of the results I am seeing defy the normal behaviors I usually expect to see. More on this is in a future article….
